I'm cold, You're cold, Your dog is cold!

When you pull out your coat and boats for yourself and your kids, gather them up for your dog(s) too!

Here are some tips for taking care of your dog during the winter:

  1. Provide adequate shelter: Keep your dog warm and dry by providing a warm and dry place to sleep, such as a dog house with bedding.

  2. Protect their paws: Snow, ice, and salt can be harmful to your dog's paws, so make sure to use paw protectants or booties.

  3. Keep them active: Encourage your dog to stay active by taking them on short walks or playing with them indoors.

  4. Stay hydrated: Make sure your dog has access to clean water and encourage them to drink.

  5. Adjust their diet: During the winter, dogs may need more calories to stay warm, so consider increasing their food intake.

  6. Watch for hypothermia and frostbite: Signs of hypothermia in dogs include shivering, lethargy, and decreased heart rate. Signs of frostbite include pale or blue skin, coldness, and pain.

  7. Groom regularly: Regular grooming can help remove any snow or ice from your dog's fur and prevent matting.

  8. Regular check-ups: Take your dog to the vet for a regular check-up to ensure they are healthy and to address any concerns you may have.
