Think you need.... Part 2.
/Don’t make it harder than it is. Go online and print out a big daily calendar that you can see 30 minute increments and give yourself plenty of room to write. Print 7, let’s embrace a week to start!
Put the stuff in that YOU know you need to do. No judgements here. If your goal isn’t work, or family time, or community involvement, then don’t put it on the calendar. This is for your viewing only, so be real and honest with your goals and where you truly want to spend your time. At the end of the week, YOU need to feel like YOU accomplished what YOU need and that YOU have taken care of commitments and people/family the way YOU want/need to.
Examples: drive the kids to school, the class you signed up for, work hours if you have a 9-5 job, dentist appointment and self care. You get it. But if it goes on the calendar, you are committed. These are the non negotiables. Nothing is too small. If it HAS to be done, it goes on the calendar.
Now you should see a clear picture of your week. Start adding in time for things you would like to get done like calling a friend, loading the dishwasher or other cleaning/household task(s), shopping for shoes for an event—anything that fits into your goals.
Lastly, add in a few items that have been annoying you, but you never take the few seconds to fix them….the loose screw on the kitchen cabinet, a couple of areas that need some touchup paint. The best way to track these is to start a list and just take a couple a week. You will be amazed a the sense of accomplishment you will feel after doing these.
As you work through this day by day, you will see where you need to add items, where you get off track, an addition that you need to make to the calendar, a list you need to start. If you really want to max your time management, set a timer. It will blow your mind as to how little of time it ACTUALLY takes to do some things if you stay focused.
This will always be a work in progress. It will change as you change, as life changes, but the basic core idea stays the same and will keep you on track if you commit to the process.
